Springbok Sevens Beat All Blacks In Cape Town
The Springbok Sevens finished in third place at the HSBC Cape Town Sevens after beating opponents New Zealand 10-5 in the bronze medal match.
With the Springboks starting the game with only 10 fit players, the team, who lost 21-26 in injury-time for their final Pool A match, gave a strong finish in their return against the All Blacks Sevens. Rosko Specman opened the scoring early into the game, but the All Blacks team quickly drew the score 5-5 by the time the halfway break had started. With fewer than two minutes left to go on the clock, Dewald Human crossed into the corner and the Blitzboks manage to hold on. Springboks Synman and Muller du Plessis were pulled out of the team due to back strain injury, while Zain Davids was forced to miss the final match because of a hamstring problem.

Fiji ultimately won the fourth and final instalment of the event by 29-15 against the USA. Fiji’s win meant they have become the fourth foreign champion in the South African city as part of a weekend that saw the most tries every delivered at the fully packed stadium in Cape Town, with a total of 287 tries.
The third place in Cape Town means that the team has moved up the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series ranking, and they will be travelling to New Zealand in fifth place overall, where they were drawn from the same pool as Kenya, France, and Scotland.
