Italy Devastated By RWC Exit
Head coach of Italy, Conor O’Shea, has said that his team is devastated at having to exit the Rugby World Cup despite needing a miracle match to beat the New Zealand time. The Azzurri would have had to beat the All Blacks for their final Pool B game in order to make it to the quarterfinals, but the game was ultimately cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis, which is set to batter Japan in the next few days.
Italian hooker Leonard Ghiraldini reportedly broke down in tears after leaning that he would not be playing in what would’ve been a farewell match for his home country. O’Shea added that after all the sacrifices that the players had made for their country, not being allowed to finish on the field was hard news to take, adding that Ghiraldini had given fourteen years to the game, and that it was sometimes difficult to not be able to win all the games that you want to. He continued, saying that the Italian hooker had spent six months in rehabilitation after he injured himself during their last game at the Six Nations, and had spent months away from his family doing the rehab.

The Irishman, who had departed from the Harlequins to take over the role of head coach of Italy, said that he understands that safety is the most important thing, especially with such a large storm coming, which has already cancelled a number of events.
