Djokovic Says He’ll Remain Unvaccinated

Tennis world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has now declared himself willing to forfeit the chance to be crowned the sport’s GOAT – as well as winning any further Grand Slam titles. Speaking to a prominent English news broadcaster this week, the Serb said while he did not wish to be associated with the anti-vaxxer movement, he remains unvaccinated and will not be vaccinating at any point in future.

This means given the current vaccination requirements mandated by so many countries the world over, Djokovic is likely to miss out on Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and even the US Open later this year.

According to Djokovic, losing the race on Grand Slams is the price he’s willing to pay. He added that while had been vaccinated as a child, he believes in the individual’s freedom to choose.

The Serb also commented on the criticism following suggestions his second positive test right ahead of travelling to Australia had been falsified. He said while he understood such criticism, there is to his mind nothing “lucky” about contracting a life-threatening infection. He said with millions of people continuing to fight for their lives all over the world, he regrets being thought of as someone who would misuse a PCR test in their favour.

The world No. 1 was ultimately deported from Australia after unrest over the possibility of his presence inciting civil unrest and anti-vaccination sentiments.

94.1% of Australians over the age of 16 have reportedly now received a double jab.
