Lydia Ko Falls Short At Women’s World Champs
Though eventually two shots off the lead with several starting birdies counting in her favour, Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko just could not manage to make a final push for the win in Singapore on Sunday. The pro-golfer finished tied on 11-under par in the latest leg of the LPGA Tour event.
Although high in contention after two early birdies at the start of Sunday’s round, she remained six shots behind winner Hyo Joo Kim from South Korea, who shot her way convincingly to the title with an eight-under 64.
Leading the way only moments before had been Australia’s Hannah Green, with a lead of a shot with only two holes remaining. But two bogeys on the 17th and 18th meant it ultimately wasn’t to be as she fell short at 16-under.

Ko flew high on confidence after an eagle at the close of the third round, which placed her only four shots behind the leader on the third day, China’s Xiyu Lin. But the back nine had other ideas, with leaders at the time emerging as the main contenders ahead of the New Zealander. It would ultimately be a bogey on the 11th, a par five, that would hurt her changes of making a late run for the victory beyond repair.
The Kiwi pro-golfer won her first LPGA tournament in three years when she last month won the Lotte Championship in Hawaii, which saw her making her long-awaited return to the world’s top 10 women’s golfers.
