NZ Cricket May Host Test Series Against England
Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Cricket David Whyte has extended a generous offer to the English Cricket Board. He’s told them that we’ll host them in a Test Series if their summer fixtures get the axe due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. He said that he’d made contact after their Domestic and International matches got postponed twice, saying that he understands where they are right now and wants to help.
Thanks to the continued risk presented by the ongoing devastation being wreaked by the virus, the T20 Blast, County Championship, and Hundred competitions have all had to be moved to later dates. England has Test Series’ against the West Indies and Pakistan scheduled for later on this year and their Australian rivals are also set to touch down for a T20 and ODI Series as the year draws to a close.

Whyte stated that he’s in ongoing contact with the CEO for the ECB Tom Harrisson and that he’s communicated the offer, saying it would depend on it becoming possible here. He explained that everyone is connected, with global Cricket being a big family, and said supporting each other is important.
If a New Zealand Tour does become a reality for the English, it would most likely take place in the latter part of 2020 or even early next year, before their extended Tour of India begins. They were here at the end of 2019, when we managed a win of 1-0 in the Test Series. They took the five-match T20I series, though, with a final score of 3-2.
