Jodi Ewart Shadoff One Off Lead in Singapore
English Jodi Ewart Shadoff is currently one shot off the pace after the opening round of the Women’s World Championship being held in Singapore. The top 31 players in the event are separated by four shots in the 63 strong field. Thai world number one Ariya Jutanugarn is one of just five players that sharing a lead with four under.
Defending champion Michelle Wie was forced to withdraw due to a hand injury, while Amy Yang, who saw victory recently in Thailand, withdrew with flu after she played three holes. 29 year old Wie returned to action after a wrist surgery, but was 10 over 14 holes, which included a double bogey that was then followed by a triple bogey, ending her day early without making any statements to reporters before leaving.

American Amy Olson, Chinese Yu Liu, French Celine Boutier, and Australian Minjee Lee now join Jutanugarn at the top of the board. Shadoff claimed four birdies and a single bogey for her opening round of 69.
Charlie Hull is also four off of the top of the leaderboard after she claimed an otherwise eventful 72, which included an eagle, four bogeys, and two birdies. Women’s British Open champion Georgia Hall is now a stroke further back along with fellow British player Brone Law at plus-one, and the two will need to work hard in upcoming games if they have any hopes of making ground on the board.
